Advice needed for fitting 3M venture shield
Can anyone advise on fitting this? The online videos ive watched all show it being fitted wet. Is this the best method or can it be done dry?
Ive got a kit coming for a Focus ST. I’ll be covering the bonnet, bumper, lights, wing mirrors etc -

Yes it needs to be done wet. Water with a drop of johnsons and a neat alcohol to spray under the edges to promote adhesion when you have it in place.

Just been watching more install videos. Brand new car and £200 quid for the kit so want to get it right

Wet as you like, as already stated add a drop of Johnsons baby shampoo just to help with slip.
Not sure where you purchased your kit but hopefully you have been supplied a small black flexible squeegee with it ?? This tool is much easier to apply with compared to standard film squeegees.
Apply water to the adhesive side/vehicle but also over spray the face surface when using squeegee and this helps stop any surface scratching.
Once you’ve successfully applied the kit make sure your client is aware to clean off any bird poop immediately …. it stains paint protection films with the chemicals in it and will show yellow on a white car (wont show on a black or very dark car)
If you have issues when applying just lift off and resoak …. that’s the beauty of ventureshield, as long as you use loads of water you get as many chances as you like !!

Yes Ewan we always supply the specialist squeegee with the Ventureshield kits ….. we don’t even charge you extra !! 😆 😆 :thumbsup:

Is it just ventureshield that you have used. I went on a brilliant course with Hexis using the BodyFence material. That stuff is absolutely amazing! full wrap capability so there are no exposed edges. The gloss on it is insane also.
Do not want to step on any toes as the 3M material is also lovely but there are other options.
Always apply paint protection wet :thumbsup: Trust me you are going to want to get some paper towels down to soak it up!

Not used any yet Dan. I’m a paint protection virgin. I’ll have a look at the hexis. Do they do it in kit form?

here only Xpel as by far in my opinion the best, even on guarantee and orange peel effect is nearly visible!

It honestly is an amazing material. They can offer kits or they can sell it too you in a roll ready to fully wrap. This stuff conforms like no other. Paint protection is good but I would suggest getting some tuition with it, also make sure you are in a highly dust free space. this stuff drags dirt in like there is no tomorrow and it shows.

We use quite a bit of the 3M gear, a tip if you already haven’t seen it is when pulling of the liner soak it well as it comes off, you can never use too much water with it. Make sure your soapy water is nice and warm too, helps with softening the film and getting it into place. One thing to bear in mind is be careful with the rubber squeegee as it can ‘burn’ the face of the film if you are too vigorous with it.
