Specialist vehicle graphics company Spedian, renowned for its unique reusable graphics system, has won the contract to install its revolutionary Spedian system to 10 of Torbay Council’s refuse collection vehicles.

Torbay Council has utilised graphics on the side of their refuse collection vehicles for a number of years as they see it as an effective and economical way to convey clear messages to local residents. It is however the first time that the Council has utilised the Spedian system.

The decision to change supplier was due to the quality of the Spedian graphics, the company’s professionalism and the cost effectiveness of the system.

The new graphics will be promoting two Council initiatives on either side of the vehicle. The first is its ‘Food Waste Recycling Just Got Easier’ campaign to inform local residents that they can now line their caddy using any type of plastic bag including supermarket carrier bags, sandwich bags, pedal bin liners and bread bags. The second is its Green Points initiative which is a scheme that rewards the residents of Torbay for reducing, reusing and recycling as well as supporting local charity projects and businesses.

The Spedian System is ideally suited to this type of promotion. Offering total flexibility, it is adaptable to all shapes and sizes of vehicle and is the only patented and tested ‘invisible’ vehicle graphics frame system available with no bolts, rivets, screws or aluminium or plastic frame required to fix the advertising panel to the vehicle.

It is quick and easy to install – less than one hour – it can also be easily removed with no damage to the vehicle substrate. If required, it can also be used with all other systems easily allowing systems to be easily interchanged. Further if required the panels can be de-installed and re-used or simply recycled.

The Spedian system has undergone rigorous testing and is sufficiently robust to withstand the daily rigours of a daily refuse collection service. Guaranteed to last the lifetime of the vehicle, Spedian is also maintenance free and its HD product is guaranteed to stay colourfast from 12 months.

Spedian CEO Lawrence Craig commented: “We are delighted to further extend our presence within the local authority sector with this latest installation. We successfully upgraded the vehicles from the Agripa system

“Specian is the perfect way to communicate clear messages to the locality and we wish Torbay Council every success with their campaigns.”

A Torbay Council spokesperson said: “It’s really easy for us all to recycle food waste; especially now that any plastic bag can be used to do it. We want everyone in Torbay to get this message and these excellent new graphics on our fleet of refuse vehicles is the obvious way to tell people.

“We want to increase recycling and to reduce the amount of food waste which goes to landfill, so we can turn as much of it as possible in to natural compost to help grow more food.”

Spedian, which provides signage across the UK, Europe and USA and names Coca Cola and McDonalds amongst its customers, developed the Spedian SuperLite System to be more cost-effective, lighter and more easily maintained than any other systems on the market.
