Material price increases
We are finding more and more prices going up on materials our main vinyl metalmark md5 we had a £30 a roll increase last week and another £30 a roll this week seems a bit excessive no pre warning either. No so bad if you get an email saying prices will increase at the start of next month as at least we have had a warning and can pre warn our trade customers of the increase or have a chance to source a new vinyl. Rant over.

Think you will find this happening right across the Industry mate. I think we have had one from every major supplier other than Smiths, "i think" But I am sure it will have to happen there too if not already.

£30 increase on a roll of md5 for the last 2 weeks seems excessive tho we are now paying £60 more for a 50m roll than we were at the start of the month. I can understand there will need to be an increases but the lack of notice from our supplier and the repeated increase in less than a week on the same material.
Metalmark md5 is a quality material for a wide range of general signage we are having to look at alternatives. William smith give us a months notice on price increases so if needed we have time to adjust our prices accordingly. We are seeing price increases upto 80% on some materials.

We got a call & letter with the new prices attached from Metamark advising prices are increasing from Sept 1st. May be worth calling to clarify.
It’s the same from most suppliers 6-11% we’re seeing.

Hi David we don’t buy direct from metamark, I confirmed our new prices with our supplier last week only to get another increase this week. 6-11% would be what be acceptable but we are seeing upto 80% increase on some products.

It sounds as if you need to seriously consider a new supplier. I cant see how that sort of price rise can be justified.

Any reason you don’t buy directly from Metamark?

We get a slightly better price from our supplier that’s the only reason. As we mostly supply the sign trade our margins are tight and we buy in bulk to get discounted prices.

I’d ask Metamark to send a rep out to see you, I’m sure they’ll be willing to do a deal, especially if you’re shifting some volume. :thumbsup:

We’ve been using ImagePerfect 2556PA for the last year or so, about £230 for the kit @ 1370
