Squeegee sharpening New concept to me
This is probably standard stuff for alot of you, but I have been in this business for 30 years in different roles but I have never heard of sharpening a squeegee until the other day I was surfing the net and came across a guy that explains how to sharpen your sqeegees. This was an ah ha moment for me lol.
You take one sqeegee and rub it back and forth on another sqeegee right at the inside of one of the "bumbs" that are moulded into the sqeegee where you hold it. Then you roll the corners back and forth to get rid of the sharp corner it produces.
It works Great! Maybe some of you have different ways of doing this?

I’d never sharpen them, but I frequently straighten the edge to get rid of the inevitable highs & lows / divots and then round them off them.
Usually by taking it outside & rubbing on a smooth(ish) concrete block, or if I’m feeling ‘fancy’ a bit of sandpaper on the bench.

This was a new one to me too. I only learned about this was through Martin Pearson who showed me this technique a couple of years ago. Prior to that I used to throw old squeegees out when they became to worn – sharpening them gives them a whole new lease of life. Good useful tip :appl:

You can buy squeegee sharpeners aswell now. Nice little tool to have.

Never come across this before……..just ordered a couple of sharpeners (actually they seem to work like a plane to straighten the edge rather than sharpen it) from Aliexpress…..£1.10 each inc. post 😀
