APA Ultra Matt Wrapping film – Opinions please?
Hi
Has anybody used APA’s Ultra Matt black wrap vinyl? From the small test piece I got it seems quite good but wondered how it holds up out in the elements? Got 4 vans to wrap and thought this might be nicer than standard matt wrap with is more stain black?

I think they do a nice job in marketing their wrapping products and have some nice wrapping media within their portfolio, but personal opinion, I am not a big fan of APA media. I would tend to lean towards Avery, Arlon, Oracal, 3M type media as a solution.

I recently had a few problems with APA candy apple red, the vinyl was wonderful to fit and looked fantastic only problem was after a day the vinyl delaminated itself! The adhesive and Base metallic layer stayed to the vehicle and the red top layer just peeled away.
It mainly happened on the bonnet and even on some very shallow recesses.
APA did give me a full refund for the vinyl but I was still down 4 days of fitting.
I wouldn’t think all there vinyls would be like this but I won’t be using it again.

It is feedback like this that has formed my opinion on this media Robert. I have heard similar stories.
The main thing in their defence is that they gave you a refund, but as you say, your down days in labour and dented reputation with your customer.That said, I am very wary of the growing list of laminate type wrapping films now being sold by any wrapping media manufacturer these days.

It was a royal pain to say the least,
We ended up using 3M 1080 dragon blood in the end and it was all most half the cost in vinyl which took the sting out a bit.My customer did walk away happy considering I had his vehicle for over 2 week’s

what would be your best recommendation for Matt Black wrap vinyl then? I really liked the Ultra Matt but don’t want to chance 4 vans with it?

Warren, I would go with those i listed above. Personally, I would go with Avery as its a commercial vehicle and i prefer its air release adhesive system for this type of application.

Ouch! That’s a bad issue with the APA. Helpful to know for the future…
I have to agree with the above, try Avery or 3M 1080/1380 series :thumbup2:
