  • heavy duty laminate query..

Posted by Hugh Potter on 7 March 2016 at 16:44

    Hi all,
Have a customer with a new transit tipper, they want to try and keep the inside of the aluminium body in good condition and have requested some form of heavy duty vinyl / laminate. I had thought of the motocross trype laminate but figured I’d ask here first…

what would best suit this application please?

    TIA,

    Hugh

I doubt any lam will stand up to having a ton of sand and gravel dropped on it and then shovelled off.

Then drop a ton of hot tarmac on and do the same..

I think you can get an sleeve or cover similer to the thin sleeves you can put in a paint tray.

I’ve seen a spay that makes things really tuff, you can spray it on 4x4s and even bricks. Try a search on you tube.

    But lam… Doubt it

Aside from a paint on bedliner or sprayed on polyurethane why not get a sheet or two of unbranded 5mm polycarbonate and glue/screw/rivet it in place and replace once it’s knackered.

    Stoneguard?

However, having said that, I cant see even this lasting very long under the conditions you describe. 😮

    Hi guys,
thanks for the suggestions. it’s unlikely to have loose gravel etc in it, I described it as a tipper but I suspect it’s just a flatbed truck (sorry!).

most likely to have bagged material, bricks, blocks etc, rather than aggregate sliding all over the place. most builders have their aggregates delivered in ton bags these days to so it’s just something to protech it a bit. I will run the concerns by him though.

    thanks,

    Hugh
