Advice on Seamless Tray Signs please?
HI everyone,
I know this has probab;y been asked 1000 times, but i cant seam to find any clear advice on making and mounting trays, ive got a new customer which is a growing business and potentially a good future customer.
They need 2 fairly big tray signs making, but they have specified they want totally seamless corners with no obvious joins, has anyone got any idea on the best way to acheive this? Is there any corner templates that work better than others? and what to put in the corners to keep it all together and in shape?
Also one sign is quite straight forward to mount as its going on a flat brick wall, but tho other wall is really uneven and has some stone effect bricks stuck to the wall. do you guys just fit as normal and just accept that there will be gaps between each stone?

you will have to use aluminium trays with welded corners to have a seamless tray however you are limited in size with these
basically sheet size 3mtr ish minus your returns will give you max face size available in 1 piece with no seams. Re the uneven wall depends how far out it is but 1 trick is to use an aluminium angle deeper than your tray returns, screw your angle to the wall and neatly mastic against wall. Place your tray ensuring you have an even gap back to the wall. If you colour your angle to match your mastic etc can give a nice two tone colour effect but hide away the imperfections of the wall.Hope you can understand that easier to do than explain

what do you use to cut the corners so they meet up? ive been looking for a notcher but i cant find anyone in the uk that sells a hand held notcher.

If you are going to make these yourself then you will need tig welding equipment, don’t need a notcher can be cut with hacksaw, jigsaw with fine cut blade etc hand notcher would not do the thickness. Also would need folding equipment as trays would normally be 2-3mm thick. I would say your best bet would be to talk to trade supplier Ashby’s etc
If you are now talking about using aluminium composite then there are tutorials on the boards if you search but corners would not be seemless
