Steam engine HP Latex
Well I have just and continuing to print onto APA truck curtain vinyl and the print
Is looking good and curing just fine at 115c with heavy ink in parts,
I went into shock at one point during the nearly black full coverage part the room
Filled up with smoke which turns out to be steam coming from the drier fans
Then stopping once the heavy ink part is printed Is this Normal ? -

are you sure its steam and not smoke? :lol1:
I have never seen that happen mate, might be a reaction of the type of media? -

maybe I should reduce the cure temp
It was ok on the rest of the print only noticed it on the heavy ink ares almost flood black for 1m and then dark aqua for another 1m x2 tiles
Curing at 115c
The workshop is a bit cold 10’c so thought it was just condensing water vapour -
Must admit never have liked the Apa printable normally print with solvent onto
The normal truck with no probs
Test prints on short runs were no problem will try at 100c for next run -
Definetly normal for the steam when printing block colours and even more so with black. As a side note though, you should have an "in" and "out" extractor fans for the room plus I think the ideal temp for the room is 17-19degrees.
We never managed to get fans put in for the install date and for about a week the place was like Cheech and Chongs car when the Windows go down.

Totally agree you need to be at 115 otherwise the black wont cure properly. Its always when its a bit colder in the room but I get a lot of mist as well, decreases when its warmer in the room.
Ventilation is a biggy with the latex as it does produce a lot of moisture and we found keeping the doors closed and running heating was creating moisture on the top of the head cleaning cartridge, soon as we started leaving windows open it cured the problem.
