  • Anyone Else Having Problems with T-shirt Vinyl coming away?

Hi. Have been looking through the forums and found a few topics on this though none quite addressing what’s happening with me. I’ve stamped (heat pr ess) some standard Siser cad cut textile vinyl onto some Gildan cotton polo shirts. A log and two words making three lines at the breast pocket. The bottom bits of the letters on the third line are peeling off – customer just brought one of 15 back and says he thinks it’s happened with one other – rest are fine.
I’ve just restamped it and it seems to be OK but then it was OK when I let it out of the shop. I notice talk on here of specs changing and no-one being told so is anyone else experiencing this or could it just be a matter of pressure on the bottom of the third line on some of the items I put out? Any advice appreciated.

    Hi
how good is your heat press for equal heat all over the plate and flatness, also when you press it are you pressing it with the shirt hanging off the press so the buttons don’t interfere with the press plate etc. Probably a case of teaching you to suck eggs but the obvious is sometimes the problem

You said this design was on the breast pocket. Does that mean you heat pressed it through two layers of material? In which case it wont be getting as much heat as you would expect through a single layer of cotton, as well as what Kevin said.

Thank you both for your replies and I agree sometimes it’s the obvious that is often missed. The flatbed press went down – long story – and I was using the little cap press which can serve incredibly well. So I’d missed the very bottom of the third line!! When I posted on here I thought that may have been the case as repressing the lettering worked a treat so I must’ve just missed the problem when the polos went out. I may have years of experience but, believe me, I’m always learning and sites like this are a treasure. Thank you both so much – I’ve now got a new piece of knowledge about the two layers and it’s easy to have just one layer with the cap press too! 😀
