Hi guys i need some help please.

I am fairly new to the vinyl cutting scene and i recently purchased my complete set-up with vinyl and software from a company.

the issue i am having is if i get am image or design and import it into coreldraw, then trace this image and send to signcut for cutting as per guides i have found via YouTube etc.. my cutter is either double cutting lines or not cutting the lines deap enough in certain places (and its always the same place). I also have an issue where the points are slightly peeled and not smooth.

I have just purchased new blades and i think i have set them all correct, sticking out only have the size or a credit card and used the test program on the cutter to get my pressure correct. My speed is at 50.

I have a feeling that all my problems are user error and down to me being a newbie.

I thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Danny and welcome to the group.
What machine have you got, and is it new or second hand ?

    Regards

Creation PCUT CR360 its second hand. I purchased new blades to be safe as i was not sure how old the blade was that was in it.

Always a good idea to have new blades but your problem might not be down to the blades if it is a second user machine, you may need to replace the cutting strip. This is the PTFE strip that runs along the front of the machine. A google search should throw up suppliers for your machine.

As for double cuts they are probably due to duplicate vectors, you really need to learn how to node edit (draw) using the software as auto traces are rarely 100% accurate.

Ok so i got the double cutting fixed thanks to the above post.

I have checked my PTFE cutting strip and that’s all in tact and looks good. I just cant understand after adjusting my pressure slowing my cutting speed or speeding it up. Why some designs cut nice and smooth and then don’t cut all the way though in curtain straights ( its weird as on a straight line it will cut 3/4’s and then the last 1/4 wont be fully cut through).

Then if i go to cut text or other bits it start to lift the smaller corners and weeding is just impossible.. If i put my pressure to a high point like 130, the test square cuts perfect but as soon as the program cuts it cuts through the vinyl?

I really do believe i just have something set wrong some where..

My offer set is 0.25 and my over cut is 0.50

When it doesn’t cut properly have you noticed at what sort of position along the carriage this happens? Look to see if it is always at about the same point along the carriage, Have you got the blade set correctly & have you checked that the blade is not damaged at all, even if you have fitted a new blade I would check it, have heard of people fitting new blades & having problems only to find on investigating that the tip of the blade is broken. They are that small you probably wouldn’t notice unless you were looking for it.
