  • OKI roller query – printer pulls at one side of the plate?

Hi all, I have an OKI C301dn which prints my number plates. The kit was purchased from LG from new, LG have been no help what so ever in resolving the matter.
I have a problem with the printer pulling one side of the plate quicker than the other, therefor resulting in a squint plate, I can get away with it (just) as long as I don’t insert a border(line) around the plate, but if I do there’s no chance in getting it straight.
LG asked me to try an A4 sheet, which comes out perfectly straight, its only when the thinner(number plate) material is used is when the rollers pull it to one side.
The printer is fitted with LGs own feeder system which fits on the fold down front entrance flap.

Anyone came across this and can offer some sort of resolution?

    Hi
its a problem i’ve found on various number plate printers, (although not used your model) because the plates are narrow it only pulls through on the large centre roller.

so no quick fix then, can you recommend a printer that has a wider centre roller that would resolve this?

We have been using Oki printers for plates for around Ten years and have never had this. We used a Konig printer for a bit and it did this all the time so we went back to Oki. We have both a 5850 and the 301 but never use the tray
that bolts on. we use the films straight into the printer, just pull down the flap and adjust the slides to the film exactly the same as you would with paper.

Yeah, its a strange one, as I said LG say they havent had a problem in the past and the fact that an A4 sheet prints straight they say the printer should be ok, but you can physically see as the film enters the roller it is actually dragging to one side.
Im pretty sure the reasoning is as advised above, but not really ant further forward. 😕

Might sound obvious but check the edge of the film is cut straight.
Could be a dodgy batch and take off the tray thingy and just use the machine standard
