  • Printing a street map Q GIS or ARC GIS esri format – help?

Posted by Jack Dunn/Smith on 2 February 2015 at 18:35

    Hi there
Does anyone know what software to use to open ordnancesurvey.co.uk map locations?

We have been asked by a school to print a 2 meter wide map of their local area.
I’ve contacted ordnance survey and they told me to use either Q GIS or ARC GIS.
Q Gis seems to allow files to be added, & Arc Gis seems to have pre loaded maps.
The only map I’ve managed to download from ordnance survey & print out the section we require, was from a Tiff, which is too pixelated. We need to use a vector….
Has anyone come across these programs & knows how to use them ?
    Hope you can help.
    Cheers
    Roger

You will need to buy the copyright for the map to print it, and it’s not cheap.

We quoted on a similar job for a dealership, but because of the area it covered it was rather expensive just for the data to print from.
