  • Barcode Printing with Roland Versaworks? Help needed please?

    Hi guys

I printed 1000 labels with an incrementing number using a barcode font from IDAutomation type 39.

Using the variable data feature in Versaworks, everything was quite easy and the printed labels looked good.

I’ve always produced barcode labels on the Gerber Edge and they’ve worked as they should.

Last week the customer contacted me and said the barcodes don’t read! I checked the labels and sure enough, they don’t read! Since, I’ve tried various changes e.g. changing the barcode font size, but nothing works – they just don’t read!

Just wondering if anyone has had any success?

    Cheers

    John

Sorry haven’t done any barcodes on the roland, just an idea … could it be the laminate that stops the reading or the colour that isn’t deep enough ??

I am interested if you find the answer !!
    Good luck

Didn’t laminate so can’t be that.

My final attempt is to rotate the design and then print, if that doesn’t work I’ll get the Gerber working 🙂

Turning the label through 90deg, ripping & printing doen’t work either 🙁

    Hi John

Do you have an old one to compare to? If the ink is bleeding a bit it may cause it not to read as it will narrow the gaps between the bars, try making the bars a fraction thinner and try print again.

Try printing one of the Gerber artwork prints to through VW and see if you get the same problem just to eliminate possibly the barcode generator causing a problem.

Even just try printing on to copy paper on your desk top printer to test.

    Good luck mate

Is the black 100% black or a composite cmyk black?
