I’ve been researching used HP latex machines and keep seeing the same thing wrote about them that you shouldn’t buy one without a maintenance contract. Why is this? I’ve got the chance of a near perfect condition L26500 at a good price but I don’t want to be paying thousands per year for a contract if i it’s not really needed.

    Ewan,

I have owned a latex for over 4 years now, and have always had a maintenance contract with Art Systems.

Yes it is expensive and I hope my machine never breaks down, but if it does that’s when the maintenance contract is worth having.

My own machine is in perfect running order as I look after it, but nonetheless something went wrong on it just this morning.
Quick phone call to the support hotline and an engineer will be arriving tomorrow along with all the necessary parts, no problem.

My contract covers parts, labour and callout costs, and priority over non-contract calls, and most importantly gives me the piece of mind that means I don’t have to worry about if or when the printer might break down.

So, in my view, well worth every penny.

    Regards,
    George

Have to agree with George, service from artsystems is the best I have ever seen.

When we have had a few issues with our Scitex FB 700 flatbed machine these guys are here the very next day.

On the flip note I have had my L26500 for 3 years now without a service contract and its been great!
