  • Printing to Canvas, colours not printing correctly – help?

Posted by Rich Cooper on 17 September 2014 at 18:06

    Hi everyone,

im just on with printing some canvas’s for a friend of mine. its not something i ususally get involved in as we mainly make signs.
im having difficulty getting the colours to print correctly, the image on screen looks great, ive tried exporting from photoshop and corel, and i rip using versaworks, the colours print great but possibly a tad too bright and the black areas have lost all detail and look really lifeless.

has anyone had similar issues or know of any way to fix this?

any help is welcome thanks rich

you could try pre press europe and alter the tone curve for the dark end to give a bit more detail.

but imo vw just compresses the image to much losing detail but gaining in colours and being on canvas does not help either.

ho do i change the tone curve? is there a better way of sending the print to the printer without using VW?

We’ve had this before, and it turned out that we were printing on the wrong side.
Sometimes it’s not obvious, as some canvases look the same both sides, but only
    one side is coated.

i have thought of that so we tried printing on the oposite side but that was even worse,

Probably worth trying a different brand of canvas. Which one are you using? We have
had problems with certain brands, but you should be able to find one that will print
well with eco sol. Try Metamark or Paper Graphics.
