I seemed to lose the blues on my older Versacamm I tried changing the dampers but ended breaking 3 of the black tubes they slide into and damaging one of the ink lines trying to syringe the ink through So contacted a chap in Somerset I was recommended had a £230 call out which I thought was expensive but I need my printer he said he needed to come as soon as poss to stop head drying out , then came a week later and said he would order parts and come back
Now a further 2 weeks later he is saying the ink line plastic tubing is out of stock at his supplier 🙂 I would have thought plastic tubing would be easy to get ?? And looking like 4weeks + without a printer , losing sales and worried about my Head drying out , what should I do …..

Call out charge is fair – pretty good actually.

The manifold (bits you broke) are easy to replace if you have the balls to take your machine to bits and accept liability for it being less than perfect once you’re finished.
Tubing varies in quality, but can be had from loads of places.

try phoning round after you call once more to say politely "need it this week of going to have to go elsewhere"…business is business after all.

You could always source the parts yourself. Digiprint supplies in Belgium (hopefully thats within the rules !) are really good and very very quick delivery. Couple of days max. Have used them extensively the past month to sort my printer out myself. You’d need to know what you’re looking for though and compile a list of what’s needed and order in one hit. From experience you do need to be really careful with manifolds and pressing dampers onto them evenly and straight down or, as you’re aware, can break easily. Pain to realign the heads too which is what the engineer will have to do once the manifolds have been reinstalled.

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted soon

There is a supplier on the boards called Stafford Cox who can probably help you with this.

Cheers Guys after my last failed attempt I think I should use someone who knows what they are doing , can anyone recommend an engineer not too far from Northamptonshire If this guy lets me down ?
I am only a small one man operation So don’t want to pay a fortune , but really struggling without my printer now , there is only so much you can do with a just a plotter 🙁
Also is this likely to be drying up my print heads with the ink lines disconnected for 4 weeks ??

    Hi Carl

Not sure where he is but there’s Julian at JDM Services. I’m aware he covers the East Anglia area but maybe as far as your way too. I was going to use him myself but managed to pretty much resolve my printer problems myself.

Not sure if Stafford does repairs or just is a supplier (me being reasonably new on here) or even where he’s located
I’m sure Stafford or someone can fill you in more !

These are the only people I know of

    Good luck

Thanks for the recommendation guys. I certainly can help as I’m predominantly a repairer with a small amount of supply. Julian is based near Ashford in Kent and, like me, is happy to cover Northampton. (I cover the whole country to for future reference).

I really appreciate you guys putting my name forward.

Get in touch if you need help.
