Creative & Colorful Staircases from around the World

Around the world, there are millions of cities, towns and villages that require staircases for people to move from place to place. While most staircases are simply confined to their plain and gray concrete substance, some staircases have been “touched up” a bit. With the help from some gifted artists, the otherwise easy to overlook pieces of urban scenery are converted into wonderful works of art that bless the pedestrians that walk on them.
In Rio de Janiero, famous street artist JR converted a long staircase with the image of a local elderly Brazilian on the stairs. In conflicted Syria, a staircase is painted with pleasant colors and named the “Stairs of Peace.” There are images of Salvador Dali on the steps leading up to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and of course there are the famous tiled steps of 6th Street in San Francisco. As you continue to walk the world around you, check and see if there are any unique staircases there. It could make your walk that much more enjoyable.
