This is my first attempt at making a tray, Just going to us this as a sample. It went a lot better than I expected.
Once you router the sheet and fold it do you need to glue the groove to strengthen it?
Also Is there any less obvious ways of joining the corners?

    Thanks in Advance
    Aaron

    Aaron,

That is not a bad attempt at all, I’m thinking back to the first tray I made many moons ago and I’m sure it was a disaster.

There is another way of doing the joins yes, you can actually made these with the 45 angle seen in your picture.

When we make tray we always use the methods you have used, it ensure over strength and knowing you have a couple of rivets in the corners just puts your mind at ease.

We used to make these so there was no visible join we used to use abit of alley angle on the inside to add the strength needed.

Thanks for the reply, do you seal or glue the channel where you have folded to strengthen it?

    Thanks
