  • Wall murals – advice needed please

My customer wants a large photographic mural on one wall of his restaurant: size approx 5m x 3m. The wall is painted in white emulsion at the moment so a vinyl print aint gonna take. A competitor has suggested printing it as wallpaper but i think thats going to look rubbish with too many joins and a dull finish so I’ve suggested laying a laminated print on two sheets of Ali Comp and fixing it to the wall with either hidden fixings or making a feature of them; i.e. aluminium screw covers (it’s a photo of a Victorian industrial scene).
Anybody got any other ideas or suggestions?

Why won’t the vinyl take to the emulsion?

Give the wall a quick once over with a roller and a PVA solution ( 1 part PVA 1 part water ) Let this dry for 48hrs then your vinyl prints will stick like a four letter word !

Cheers Guys – I’ve tried sticking vinyl to emulsioned walls before and it’s always come away eventually – like the PVA idea though! Excellent! Will post pic of finished product soon…
