Hi, I really need to buy a wider laminator and have been looking at this one

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wide-Format-C … 417bf6cf52

I also have been looking at an easymount 1400 EM sign which at £1500 is double one above.

Has anyone bought either of these models and could you give me some feedback. I always tend to go with better known brands but how much can go wrong with a cold laminator, many thanks for reading

Hi Jean, we are kind of in the same boat. At the moment we have a 1400 wide cold laminator, however we are looking towards a 1600 hot roll laminator as the prints tend to silver (its worse at winter). I dont know if you have this issue with your smaller laminator, but i would recommend a hot roll

And yes, the price is a bit of a stumbling block at the moment

Yes we have lived with a bit of silvering on our prints but they do fade in time and I’ve never had a customer even notice it. In our unit its definitely worse in the winter. Just think hot are zoo much more again and i could always blast the space heater in the unit for a while before laminating. Ive no idea of the make of the laminator on ebay but its a much nicer price than easymount.

I suppose, im the only one in here that complains about the silvering, maybe im just too fussy, and yes, it does go after time.

Mind you, it does seem a good price (we priced up the easymount a couple of weeks ago) but like you have asked, it would be nice to get some feedback from someone who has purchased one

I cant comment on the ebay laminator but we have an Easymount EM1400 and i would say its the best piece of kit we have bought in recent years. It is cold and we get silvering, but like you, weve never had a customer even notice this, and it does fade. If I was looking to buy, i would definately opt for the easymount. As with everything, you get what you pay for! Hope this is of use

    Hi Jean

We have the same model by the looks of it, just a different colour.

    Works fine for us.

Denise, i was just looking at this laminator again, does it have a take-up reel or another roll for the backing paper to roll onto? I cant tell from the pics

    Thanks

I have an easymount 720 (I don’t need to lam anything over A1) and really like the nfact that I can mount the roll of lam on the machine, once it’s set up and running true I never have to touch it until it runs out of laminate!

    really good bit of kit.

Bought the easymount 1600sh back in July when the new printer was delivered. Up until then we were using a much more simplified version than the one above and it worked fine but was only 1000mm wide so no good for the new printer.

I have to be honest and say it sat unused (apart from being in the way) for best part of 6 months because despite doing everything by the book it seemed to have a ever lasting hunger for eating everything that went between the rollers.

After a visit from a Friendly board member, Thanks Mr Sticker, we are now using the beast every day and its working a treat. The problem was we were running it like the videos using it off the roll and it never seemed to run straight one side would always ripple and we would end up loosing the print. Now we just tear off the laminate as required and put it through like a manual machine without feeding it over the spools.

Personally if I knew before what I know now I would have saved the cash and bought the one above but having the heated roller does improve the silvering. On that note only had one customer pick up on it and that was because their graphics were nearly all black.

Hi, there’s no take up roll.

Try D&K Europe….. I was very impressed with the construction and design of their laminators.

They seemed very knowledgable and helpful when I spoke to them at the sign show last year.

From memory the price was a lot better than the easy mount too

thank you all, I’m still not sure what to do The easymount has now been superseded with a newer model so price now for the (old) is around £1500.

I use ImagePerfect PA vinyl and I noticed silvering when I used the matched laminate from Spandex so I swapped to Hexis laminate (650) and no more silvering. Saying that though I have bit the bullet and ordered an Easymount Hot laminator for myself, it has cost a pretty packet but eh it’s only money and you can’t take it with you!

I have bought the easymount cold laminator It cost more than the ebay one but it should hold its value better and i know what I’m doing with this make as old one was also easymount.
