  • Matt or Gloss Laminate for Prints ?

Posted by Martin Oxenham on 9 November 2013 at 16:52

Just trying to find what others use….We normally use Gloss but done some stuff for TV work in Matt and it looks quit good. All TV and Film work tends to be done in Matt to avoid reflection. Also most supermarkets seem to use Matt.
What laminate do others use for general prints for signs, vans or stickers ?

I use satin laminate for most of my signs now. Still cuts the glare but gives it a fantastic look, just a notch up from mat lam.

Been looking at satin textured laminates too for outdoor work

i use a lot of matt & matt textured, the textured gives a really nice appearance with certain colours, but still get asked for gloss for certain jobs

For exhibition work we use a crystal finish. Any POS is mainly glossy.

Gloss for Vehicles, Matt for everything else.

Matt lamination (or Matt vinyl cut lettering) looks much "richer" and more upper-class IMHO.

Satin can help cut down on any streaks caused be the squeegee if your mounting laminated decals without premask.
