can anyone advise with canvas mounting options?
Hi,
‘She Who Must Be Obeyed’ as asked me to print a one of our photo’s onto canvas for our dining room.
I have tested some canvas samples and laminates and I am about ready to go but was interested if anyone had experience in other ways of mounting the canvas print instead of the usual stretcher bar route. Or is it in the canvas’s best interest to be mounted this way due to the type of material.

I have mounted it to 10mm black foamex and left sides bare and looks nice

I often mount them rather than use frames, specially for big stuff!
banner hem tape on the front, and rear edges, lay it on, smooth one end and fold around, then tenstion slightly, do other end etc. I then tape down on the back. I use various methods of fixings for handing.
biggest I’ve done was an iphone panoramic shot I took early one morning on the south downs near Eastbourne, 2.4m long!
ps. the photo really doesn’t do it any justice!

Did not think of banner tape!, I considered mounting on a flat sheet, it saves me buying a canvas stretcher and wood.
Chris, what adhesive did you use between foamex and canvas?
Hugh, did you use banner tape strips on the back of the canvas to stop it sagging in the centre?
Its going to be fitted above a radiator so not sure how the heat will affect the backing board and canvas, if its foam board I would assume it could flex and bow with the heat.

Hi Darrell,
yes, I put some horisontal strips along the length of the board, seems to be fine and with no signs of sagging or evidence of the tape holding it there.
