Dibond
Hi there, we have only just started working with dibond..
We have a school sign to do, and it wants a dome shape at the top.
We will mount vinyl onto the board, then cut to shape.
How would you cut this to shape. What are the best options.
Can it be done with hand tools. i.e… jigsaw / router / coping saw?Thanks

A jigsaw with an aluminium cutting blade or a router are good options with dibond. The router is a little more in depth as you’d probably want to make a jig first to follow.

Done this a few times now.
Stick on a vinyl template guide and cut with a jigsaw to within 3mm or nearer.
The vinyl will act as a guide as well as protecting the substrate for the jigsaw shoe plate.
We then use a blacksmiths rasp which rips it down to the line in minutes (always rasping along the length not crossways to avoid flat spots).
Blacksmiths chuck these away after a while as they like them really sharp for hoof work but they are perfect for composite.
Finish off with files for a smoother finish.
