Wrapping Subaru Impreza wagon rear spoilers help?
Hi all
i’m doing a full car wrap on a 1994 subaru impreza wagon which is going good at the moment.
The thing i’m stuck on are the pair of rear spoilers, i’ve had a quick go at them while they was off the car but i failed.
any tips on how i should be doing these? (both top and bottom ones)
if all fails, then i will pay someone to do them

Have you taken them off the vehicle?
When you say failed, how do you mean?
I think the general consensus on something like this is do the underneath first then do the top and overlap. There’d have to be a seam somewhere in my opinion. Otherwise you are stretching the material to its limits so it’s more likely to fail.

It was removed off the car
i tried the bottom one being i took it off the car when i did the boot. i did the top 1st then worked around to the bottom of the spoiler. i found i couldnt get the bend right on the end and under it. looking back i think i should of done the bottom 1st then work around to the top part of it.
my aim is to have the seam on the under side of the spoiler, once fitted you one see the underside unless you bend down and look.

What material are you using for this? Some will perform far better than others,
Other thing is how big a bit of vinyl are you starting with? Mistake must people make is to try & start with a bit of vinyl that is only just big enough for the job where you should be starting with a bit that is a lot bigger. -

when i came to the under size i had far to much wrap to lose, i did try and heat it up and stretch the wrap but i had no look 🙁
i think the problem was i started the top 1st, like in the last comment, i should of stated the bottom 1st, then work around to the top then back to under size (i want the seam/join to be on the under size)

What brand vinyl are you using?
Point of having a large bit to start with isn’t to make sure there is enough to cover the item it’s to do with stretching the vinyl, hard to explain but to give you an example. If you were doing a wing mirror you would start with a bit of vinyl 3 to 4 times the size that you actually need.
Have you done a vehicle wrapping course? Well worth the money if this is an area you want to do more work. -
thought i post a update –
had a go at the top spoiler which I’m glad to say i did. while the weather here been crap i’ve done some of the small things in doors. taking my time i did the top spoiler. i’m going to give the lower one a go this weekend

not much been done due to work, rain and also hurting my back plus 3 other project cars too
[/img]i’ve found tho, the wrap wont stay in the indent on a door and one of the wings, i think this is due to the clear coat coming away from the paint (paint work was naff to start with)

What brand of vinyl are you using!?!?

Problems with lifting are often due to poor cleaning & insufficient post heating. How did you clean the car & how are you post heating after fitting?

each panel was washed down and then dyed, then cleaned with panel wipe. once the wrapped as been fitted, i’ve heated the vinyl.
its only on one door and one wing, the other doors and wing seem fine.
i’ve put it down to the clear coat coming away from the paint or user error being my 1st full wrap
just to add, looking at online pages, i dont think i’ve post heated the wrap right which why its came away. the fact someone in the pass done a cheap paint job on the car is just added a pain point …. you live and learn tho 🙂

the lower spoiler i had trouble with before is now done 😀 had abit of spare time last night after work plus my back felt ok so i gave it ago
only bits to do now are the front and rear bumpers (not looking forward to this)
any tips on doing a set of bumpers for a 1st timer?
