quick pricing guesstimate needed please…
got a customer questioning a price and I want to see how much you guys would charge for the same job…
the job was for a friends brother so was always going to be a little cheaper and I wasn’t chasing for deposits etc.
after initial free consultation I did 2hrs design and around 4-5 mock-ups sent out.
total of 9metres of laminated prints (aprox.. 2x 2500 x 1000, 2x 1000 x 1000, 1x 1000 x 400).
all prints applied to galvanised sides of a truck – had to remove around 30 rivets per side & apply graphics on a table, customer helped, customer refitted sides.
total of 4+ hours on site, 40mins travelling,
can you give me an indication of what you would have charged please?

£600 list price £250 special mates rate – or anything inbetween

not too far off, my list would be £540 for the vinyl (£60pm) + est 4hrs installation, £640.00 total, no vat,
no charge was made for additional artwork changes. No charge for travelling, no charge for the busted drill bits or extra chemicals etc to clean the galv sheet etc.
as it is I charged £545.00, which is now rounded down to £520 dude to a slight cock-up on my part.
still bloody cheap I reckon. non mates rates woulda been around £700 with all the changes in artwork etc. especially as I closed the shop on sat am to go to fit at the customers place (ok, that was convenient but the shop took no money).
time to re-evaluate these mates jobs again I think.

Id be in £750 plus VAT bud… but I’m a lot slower than you lol
Mates rates (only if a really good mate)
Knock of the design and labour….. Then make sure you get a return fave lol. My mate was over last week whos a decorator, he paid me for the media at cost and while I did his van, he did a load of painting for me ( I supplied paint)

oooo just as an addendum,
Having had this problem before, II now make sure EVERTHING is written down and aggreed before i do ANYTHING (mate or not)
Cant go wrong then
