Railing clamps for a small diabond sign, any ideas?
Posted by Stephen Morriss on 2 September 2013 at 11:08Hi All
Hope your all busy, I’ve been flat out hence my lack of participation on the sign boards.I’ve got a small sign that I need to fix to some railings on a gate but I’m wanting a neat solution that looks good from the back as it’s a public building. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for suppliers of clamps?
Railings are 100mm centres and are made from 16mm bar
Sign is 550 x 140 landscape.Steve

Hi stephen,
Channel rail on the back of the panel (double sided sign tape 3M)
Long Channel rail bolt and bolted onto angle bar on the other side of gate

Hi Vic
I’ve got that as a last resort but I was thinking of something a little more elegant like a ready made clamp that could be VHB’d to the back of the sign.
Thanks

i would drill & tap the railings to accept some nice stainless steel screwsKev

You use to be able to buy D clips for attaching sign channel to railings, don’t know if they are still available though as it’s years since I have done anything like that.
Kevin, like your idea but only drawback is fixings on the face of the sign but I’m guessing your suggesting using stainless to make them a sort of feature. -

We’ve done this before…. Just make sure you don’t go breaking the tap 🙄 😳

Bit of wood at the back painted same colour as railings then you just screw though the sign into the wood, you can also use colour coded caps to cover the screws

I was thinking the same as martin, something like conduit clips with a saddle attached to the back of the sign but i think they are 20mm might be ok if you stick a piece of rubber in.

Or you could just sell them another sign to go on the inside & mount them back to back :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

You could drill blind holes into the railings and rivet into the holes, has worked for us in the past.

I hardly ever use anything else than 3M VHB double sided tape, even for panels 4000 x 1000 mm
