    Hi,

I’d like to use the cutter from 2 different PCs, I’ve spoken to Graphtec and there is no way to share the USB device using windows sharing.

Does anyone / has anyone tried using an external USB device sharing switch with their Cutter ?

Any problems etc ? Thought I would ask before buying one to try !

    Thanks

    Nick.

i drive 3 graphtecs (2 usb 1 lpt) from any one of 3 pc all at the same time if you so desire
done by using the graphtec windows driver from corel and windows printer sharing over the network.
how you would do it from say eg flexy i have not a clue

Thanks Chris, Do you use Cutting master ?

I don’t use flexi (at all) I cut direct from Corel Draw or AI using Cutting Master …

I’ve tried sharing the cutter from the PC it’s attached to but Cutting Master on the other PC will not recognise it as a cutter ? within Windows what Port type do you set it up as/share?

If you have any screen shots you could share (or PM / email) it would be great !!

    Thanks in advance

Incase you haven’t solved this yet, i bought a simple usb switch device in the early
days when i had a similar setup. It is literally a block with a push button on it. It connects to both pcs via usb cables and then to your plotter (or any other usb device)

You can then just push the button and switch between which machine sends the data ( drivers had to be installed on both machines)

I think it was called a usb device switch or something….i may even still have it kicking about somewhere, will look and try to post a pic

yes I use the switching device as I share 2 cutters with 3 imacs, i got a 4 way switch so can connect up to computers to it, simply push your machines associated number on the device for the cutter you want to use and you’re connected.

Only down side is distance of cable, I had to move slightly closer as the cables I used were too long and wasn’t "powerful" enough to carry through so had to shorted the cable but it’s still about 7 or 8 meters away.
