We had a customer in a few weeks ago who wanted a large graphic doing to cover a crack in his window anyway after a few weeks he brought us his artwork on a usb stick. Popped it into our mac and the file came up as 3.8GB!!!! After 20 minutes finally managed to open it in illustrator and resaved it as a eps and sent it to rip at 10% to get a proof for him, had already told him if he sent the 5 photo’s we would redo it properly but he insisted on using his own work. Took him the proof round got the ok so quick check on size and ran the job at 100%. Went to fit it and he decides it’s the wrong size (his fault not ours) reluctantly I agreed to reprint it at the correct size he really wanted and again went to fit it. This time he decides the black isn’t black enough and wanted that section replacing with black gloss vinyl, so off comes the bottom and replaced with black gloss. comes to fit the remaining horrible green graphic and he decides the green is not an exact match to his hand mixed paint. 😮 He’d already signed off a proof sheet saying it was all ok so by now I’m fuming. All this frm a guy who is nearly blind and wears glasses that could stop a scud missile. Any just a heads up in case he decides to try and get some other poor bugger to do it.

Not a chance, one of those jobs where you just gotta walk away from. Could have spent more time and money doing yet another proof and running it again but it would never be right for him. Just feel sorry for the next poor bugger he tries to get to do it.

Sorry David but from reading your post you only have yourself to blame, sounds harsh I know but if I had printed the job from supplied artwork at the size the customer requested & the artwork had been signed off then I wouldn’t have been reprinting it for him until the first one was paid for. Even if that had just been something to cover the wasted material costs.
I had so much of my time wasted & lost so much money when I was trying to please everyone that something had to give.

Normally I wouldn’t but put it down to a genuine mistake by the customer, I guess I’m to soft with local businesses and it’s a case of trying to educate people that it’s not quite the same as outputting to their home inkjet.
