We recently had installed a Roland XR640 running with the new Eco Sol Max 2 inks.

We are having problems printing red! – washed out and orangery and customers rejecting jobs :(.

In the main we design in corel x6 and export as eps – this is the method we’ve used for years (this is our 4th Roland printer) and never had a problem.

Question is: Is anyone else using these inks and with what success.

    Thanks

    John

    first thing talk to roland
best guess is your settings are off print the red bits out of the roland swatch with sign and display and max impact.
if you have not loaded the swatch in to corel i recomend it

We are using the max2 ink with our xr640 and are not having problems are you using the correct profile for the media?

We mostly print on 3M IJ40 with the correct profile

    Thanks for the replies.

Chris, we have talked to Roland but with no great answer so far.
Also, we have loaded the versaworks swatch in to corel and tried that and also printed the main swatch from vw and tried max impact.

Lee, on our previous printer we had profiles for each media but installation guy recommended to stick to the generic profiles. Glad yours is going well.

    cheers

I can’t comment on your printer but when in doubt we run md5 profile and haven’t ever found it lacking

    May be worth a try

print the red test square attached with out putting it into Corel, try using generic vinyl profile & max impact etc. If the results are better may be its a Corel colour management causing problems

    Hi Kev,

Just tried this and I think we can rule out the export settings.

Had a little play with the profiles and I think we are getting there!

    Thanks for your help everyone!

    🙂

What did you do as we have an XR640 and customers are also complaining but on test print it does look ok but they say it is not as good as the last lot on the VS (we don’t own this anymore) running eco sol max 1 inks?
