Some advice please
Hi all,
Could someone please give me some advice on what is the best vinyl to use on the attached type of job.
The photo isn’t the actual job, but my client wants something similar on the same car.
The text isn’t a problem, it is just the big red diagonal stripe that is confusing me.
Am not sure whether to use Avery/3M wrapping vinyl, if taking the door handles off so I can get into the recesses of the handles, or if I can get away with cutting round the handles using maybe Oracol or would u stay with Avery/3M wrapping vinyl anyway.
I have done the wrapping course with Rob, but this is my first job requesting it and unfortunately not been able to put what I have been taught into practise yet as been busy with various things.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Difficult question to answer Marc because it really depends on you experience & confidence applying vinyl in general, The job could be done with pretty much any good quality cast vinyl which would be cheaper than using a wrap vinyl if you look purely at material costs but if you then factor in the time & wasted material it could cost you if using a cast then things start to swing the other way. That’s where the experience kicks in & only you know what your limitations are.
Personally I would say if you have just done the wrap course but haven’t had the time or opportunity to put your new skills to the test then this might be the ideal opportunity to start. Choice of film if it were me would be what ever I used on the course & felt comfortable using unless you have been playing with other makes of film prior to going on the course. -
Martins correct on several points mate…
as this is the first job you have done since, you want to make it easiest to help build your confidence.
you also want to give the customer the best possible finish. to do that you should remove the handles prior to install. those handles in particular are not easy to negotiate around unless experienced.any of the brands you listed will do the job easily. A regular Cast too, as Martin says, but remember the adhesive will be much more aggressive and even more so in these humid, hot conditions.

Just a bit nervous about taking the handles off the car. Once got that sorted should be ok I think. Gonna speak to a garage about that
Think it’s gonna be the avery vinyl for the stripe anyway.

If you get the handles removed it will be an easy job with a good wrap vinyl.

Marc, don’t get involved with removing trim, handles, lights or anything else that needs to be removed to get a good finish, either let the customer sort that sort of thing for themselves or speak to a garage/body shop about them doing it for you.
Firstly they have more experience than most at that sort of thing & secondly if anything goes wrong then it’s someone elses problem to fix :lol1: :lol1: -
Yeah cheers for that Martin and John, thats something I know I will get someone else to do.
Have a garage round the corner from me that should be able to help me out, have half chatted with them about doing it already.
I think if I can get them removed, the job should be straight forward enough.
Just trying to price the job up now for my customer, not sure if he will go for it anyway as not gonna be too cheap for him and unsure whether he’s gonna pay too much for it.
