Hi Guys, my JV33 has decided to give me a hard time. I go low on magenta and the message came up on the display !CAR #1 … So I got 2 new carts and popped them in. But the message is still there.

Also I’ve got 20% nozzle loss on the test print.. I’ve changed and adjusted the capping station and also fitted a new pump just in case..

I’m thinking its probably the damper now unless anyone else has any ideas?

Some enlightenment would be useful if anyone can help? I’ve never fitted a damper on a Mimaki before, bu done plenty of Roland and Epsom ones, is it a similar job?

Thanks guys, engineer call going in Monday if I can solve. Pumps, dampers and capping I Can handle… Beyond e that I call in someone who knows what they are doing lol…

First of all, I’d check the level sensors inside the cartridge assy all look the same, i.e not bent backwards. That would then program the wrong ink levels to the chips on the carts. If it is a damper fault, then they’re pretty easy to do. Similar to your old Roland ones but they have a valve on them, certainly not beyond your expertise Mo. I would only use genuine in Mimaki dampers on a JV33 though, you’ll be surprised at the difference they make.

Give me a shout tomorrow if you want to talk through your options.

Mine has had that CAR!1 error message before but it didn’t effect the print at all.

    AAARRGGGHHHH…lol

After all that and a week of perfect printing, I come in one morning, do a test print and a few nozzles are out on the black and magenta. Do a quick clean, magenta is fine, but the black is worse, a few more cleans and worse still.

So… Head wash, routine maintenance clean, pump tube clean, new wiper blade several times now, and only a slight improvement on the black head….

Any ideas anyone? I’m going barmy…. everything was fine till I cleaned them. All other colours are fine, just the black. I can’t be doing with having to do all this its costing me time, and time is???

If I had any hair left Id get a good hold and tug…. but I don’t!

Not much help, but I’m afraid that this is the reason that we stick to OEM ink.

    Non OEM ink problem?

The only cleaning I do on ours is normal or soft cleans or a nozzle wash for 5-15 mins.

    (running OEM inks)

I will look in to it…… never had a problem in the last 3 years with non OEM inks, having said that, I have never used colourific before, always jetbest.. but if it is!….. heads shall roll..lol

Well after spending all day working on it and getting nowhere, and after ordering 8 flush carts for tomorrow just in case i needed a complete sloosh out…. I decided to pop the old capping station back in, just in case…. just one of those mad ideas… guess what?

No clean required, initialization and then test print…. BINGO one full nozzle count on ALL colours. Looking at the two capping stations, there are some minor differences in them… although its a genuine mimaki capping station.

Hey Ho, its working and I’m happy…

So cant blame the ink! alls good..

Thanks for input though guys……. until next time..lol

The capping stations are a common fault on these I’m afraid Mo, they go in 2 places. First is the rubber seal on the cap itself goes kind of oval shaped and lets are in when it’s cleaning, second is the post to the right of the cap that after a while leans over a bit and doesn’t allow the cap to seal properly. Both are an easy enough fix, especially the post part as you can just wrap a bit of tape or vinyl around it to pack it out a bit and Bob’s you Monkhouse 😉

If it’s both blacks I’d look at the M6 valve at the cartridge end. Black faults aren’t often a cap fault as they’re the 2 middle channels and in the middle of the cap.

What do you think with M6 valve at the cartridge end ?
