Morning all, does anyone know if its possible to over print with onyx x10? We’ve got some flag material from metamark to print for a stage show but the profile only lays down a small amount of ink due to the nature of the media, I was thinking if we could overprint again it would give more vibrant colour on stage once the lighting is on it otherwise I think it’s going to look really washed out. Not sure if it’s possible?

    Cheers

from experience if it looks really flat with a standard profile then double striking the ink will probably bleed badly.
best material i have tried is image perfect but too expencive the other is not available any more in the uk all the others i have tried are very flat.

the big flag companies dye sub them so they can use cheaper uncoated material and have great colours.

Cheers Chris, I’ve run it now using one of the standard profiles I know works quite well and to be honest it doesn’t look to bad. Won’t really be able to tell until dress rehearsal tomorrow so fingers crossed.

If you want to overprint in Onyx, right click on the job in the print queue, and select ‘Edit printer settings’. In the following ‘Media Options’ dialog, select ‘Ink Layers’ to the
required amount of passes. You can set pass delay and drying time here as well, in
    case there are drying issues.

Cheers Jamie will keep that in mind for next time, ran it at 8p and 240 cps and it seems ok, I’ll try and get a photo up after tonight.
