Can anyone recommend an HP Supplier
Posted by Kevin Busby on 12 June 2013 at 08:18Hi People
Been needing to get sorted with a printer for a while now and with a possible move on the cards, i will certainly need one at if it goes ahead.
Having thought about the options I’m certain I want to go Latex with the HP (unless someone can advise me different) but there are so many suppliers I’m not sure what to do.
I’m bothered about price obviously but Id rather they were a little more expensive with a good backup service then beat everyone on price and your on your own before you walk out the door. I spoke to my rep from William Smith and he said they don’t sell it anymore and recommended a company called CWE solutions, I’ve never heard of them so before calling wanted to ask for your advice.
Can you kindly recommend a well priced HP supplier with an exceptional after sales service.
Thanks very much for all the help.

We got ours from Perfect Colours, and they have been very good. Make sure you shop around as I’m sure there are some good deals to be had. Also check the for sale forum on here as I’m sure there have been a couple on there.

Hi John
thanks for that info, I’d have loved to buy the one in the for sale section but I’ve never had much luck with second hand equipment so thought this time I would go brand new and ensure I had a contract for the maintenance I hate surprises and would rather know its covered.

Thanks for the help on this guys, had a call today from Perfect Colours, Thanks John guess you mentioned it or they are also on the boards but happy to say they seem nice enough people and happy to supply a quote by e-mail.
Just waiting on a couple things to come together and hopefully that will be my first printer on its way.
Now the next question, Lmao what would you recommend as a laminator to go with the latex? From the reading on here sounds like they come hand in hand if you want the print to last well so might as well sort that at the same time.
Thanks again everyone.

Kevin, can’t help with a supplier but printers & laminators often go hand in hand so might be worth asking for a quote for a printer/laminator combination. Might get yourself a better deal all round plus they should know what is best to use with the printer.

Yep was thinking that just as I typed it, I’d much rather stick with one company anyway so I’ll add the request to the rep when he comes down next week but thanks for confirming my thinking lol

Kevin sorry don’t know a lot about these HP machines, is it a print & cut or just a printer? If just a printer then you may be looking at a new plotter as well to do contour cut work, gets expensive doesn’t it lol.

Martin’s right you will need a cutter if you haven’t already got one, and yes you will need a laminator. Yes you can get the whole lot from one place, but don’t just assume that this is the cheapest way. Don’t forget you will need a RIP too, and a set of inks and print heads which are handy to have will set you back approx £735+VAT, so see what you can wangle into the deal. You might be better off trying to get some inks thrown in rather than money off. You are looking at 6 ink cartridges at about £90 a pop, and 6 print heads (2 sets of 3) at about £65 a go, although (touch wood) these should last a while.

Excellent tips thanks, already got cutter but I like the idea of pushing for ink, as it would be the first thing i order after they installed otherwise lol.
Thanks

I’ve had the Graphtec 5000-60 for about 6 months now and whilst I like the new 6000 this has been fine for me so far but will probably get something bigger when its time to change.

Is that a 600mm wide machine? You might find it worth upgrading to a wider cutter, as the printer can go up to 1524mm and only being able to cut 600 will be a problem sooner or later.

Perfect Colours would be my first choice, Tom Gent will get the whip cracked if things don’t go right. I hear William Smith are very good too.

Thanks John, Yeah it is, will probably be something I need to look at sooner or later.
Nice to get another vote for Perfect Colour thanks Stafford, I know best price is important but its no use if they are not around to support it for you so looks like I will go with them in the end.

Just a quick update on this, Printer deal now done with perfect colours but the next step is laminator, could anyone please step up and advise on this as well please.
I have no idea since I’ve always subbed out if I need hot / cold / double hot or which brand. Heard a lot about Easymount which was probably where I would head left to my own devices but would really appreciate some help on models etc.
Most use for this machine will be Vehicle Prints onto Vinyl and Banners, possibly some textile work later on but main thing is being able to laminate exterior signage.
Thanks again

There’s a used Neolt Neolam 1650C in the ‘for sale’ section, you could do a lot worse than that.
Easymount seem to be the cheapest. I have no experience with them but obviously, cheapest doesn’t always mean best. Seal are the Daddy of laminators and Neolt are pitched just behind them.
Get in touch if I can be of any help.

For all who are stuck between choosing a Latex or Roland….Have a look at my review video which was dont for a major supplier. I run both machines side by side and think this give a good honest opinion.

Excellent review thanks very much.
I’m all sorted now with the laminator, Perfect Colours came through with a good deal on that to so thanks to everyone for your help.
I’ll update this thread after its been installed so anyone that is interested can catch up with how the install and training went and first thoughts on the machine and suppliers.
Cheers

quote Harpreet Sahota:For all who are stuck between choosing a Latex or Roland….Have a look at my review video which was dont for a major supplier. I run both machines side by side and think this give a good honest opinion.
Hardly impartial though is it!

I think its a fair review considering I own both machines….I can’t even give my latex away! Replacing it for a XR640 to sit alongside the XC….
