• Cutting Foamex

When cutting a cheap Foamex type material we had a lot of fraying powder material that didnt get vaccumed up (mainly due to static).

Is this a common problem or just because we bought cheap stuff?

How can we avoid the static and can you reccommend a material.

This is using a Zund S3

Sit down when you get a bit of spare time & rewrite the laws of physics 😮

Not familiar with the machine, does it have a dust shoe type extraction or just a pipe to suck up the swarf? Dust shoe would tend to contain more of the waste material. Don’t think it would really matter what type of foamex you were cutting. Cheaper boards tend to contain more air & are therefore less dense but don’t think it makes a great deal of difference when cutting.

Andy get a simply bit of electric cable strip one end and spread the cooper wire out and tape it to the end of the vacuum hose where you are sucking up the the waste then ground the other end to the floor this will transport the static electric away from the machine also check the vacuum pressure sounds like its not strong enough to suck up the waste static alone should not stop the vacuum from drawing it away from the work piece
    Hope his helps

    How thick is it?

Thinner PVC I cut with the UCT. No dust no mess that way.
