    Hi

Just got this from a training college… is this correct??

You may be aware already that as of the 1st of July, and companies involved in the production of road signs will be certified under BS EN 12899 and every road sign produced will need to be CE marked. One of the requirements of this certification is that every member of staff involved with the production process needs to be qualified or working towards a level 2 qualification in Sign making. Whether the company produces road signs or commercial signs, we would like encourage each member of the signage industry to consider this training to help maintain high standards, spread good working practice and help develop future technologies, to ensure that the British graphics and signage industry is the best.

not aware of it but, I’m not one for taking too much notice of this kind of thing. I don’t do road signage anyway but really don’t feel and NVQ is that big a deal – not until you’re on level 4 / management!

    thanks for posting denise…

    quick reply.
i have heard of this, butdo see a need for this when it comes to the road traffic signage.
its not something we do much of at all, but i do see substandard traffic signage out there and my personal bug, is screen printed or printed conspicuity signage where the ink fades leaving a sign blank with black icon/symbol and no border as its faded in the sun. various other things too…
the thing is traffic signage can be charged at a premium and rightly so… so why should those doing so be allowed to cut corners?
yes there are inks out there supposed to be stable, but are they truly or is it all this accelerated laboratory condition’s mumble jumble?

big topic this to be honest…

Yes I’m sure ashby of similar contacted me about this, I’m fairly sure that was via post.

Again I don’t do road signage, but it also applies for private carparks and such.
