  • Running two Graphtec CE5000’s on on Mac. Possible?

Posted by Craig Ross on 5 March 2013 at 15:18

    Hi All!

Well we now have a CE5000-60 and a CE5000-120. Ideally I wanted to use both from the same computer.

Graphtec say it is not possible, but I wasn’t sure if there was a third party software which would make this happen. OR a secret way….

    Thanks in advance.

I’m on Mac, don’t think FlexiSign works with the lastest OSX but I may be wrong. (I have done a quick Google to double check and can’t find anything)

Well at the moment, I have got one plugged in to my Mac and the other to the windows computer I use for orders and accounts. I have loaded Cutting Master to it and have been loading jobs on Mac then saving the job through Cutting Master and reloading it on Windows through Server. Not ideal.

I can’t comment on these machines/software specifically -*but* – can’t you install both devices/drivers on the same machine and then choose at print/cut time which one you want to output the job to? And have a junction/switch box to toggle which machine it was going to.

You could possibly get a switcher but the CE5000-60 and 120 operate slightly different I believe as Cutting Master have different settings for each.

Plus ideally I want to cut on both at same-time occasionally. 😀

we have 3 graphtecs and can drive them all from one computer at the same time if you wish via the network, just happens that each one is connected to a different computer.

Hmmm – don’t see it being done simultaneously unless it’s possible to download the complete job to the first device and then set the next one going – not likely.

Which software are you using Chris?

    Craig
3 copies of corel open each assigned to a plotter can be the same file in each (just don’t press save) or different files.

    ** UPDATE **

    Afternoon All!

Well after months of using a mac for one cutter and a spare windows machine for the other, transferring files back and forth to cut. I have solved it, thought I would update this incase anyone else has or could in the future.

Well I visited Fespa on the Friday and got chatting to a chap on the Graphtec stand (Sorry for the life of me, I can’t remember his name) and explained my problem and he said try "Cutting Master 3". Well I have tried it this morning took a little time to learn the new layout. However I now have two graphtec cutters plugged in to my iMac via USB and they both can cut different jobs at sametime and all controlled from the one Mac.

YAY!!! Dance around time. :dance4: :dance4:
