    Hello everyone.

Before I start trawling through hundreds of different vinyl cutters/plotters I thought I would ask you knowledgeable people for some ideas first!

Me and my business partner are going to be starting a small vinyl singage company very soon. We have around 5 grand at the very max to start up (this includes everthing, not just the plotter!)

My business partner has been working for someone else that does signage for 5+ years so he has experience in the field, we both have a graphic design degree, for some background information.

We know we need the following –

    – Reliable vinyl cutter/plotter
    – Something that is good and not overly complex for a new company
    – Capable of cutting 1220mm vinyl rolls
    – No printing required
    – Works with Corel draw and Illustrator (though not essential)

To start off we will mostly be doing vinyl work on vans, shop windows and for exhibitions.

If anyone could suggest anything remotely near what we need that would be a huge help. Thanks for your time.

Any of the quality brands, Summa, Mimaki, Mutoh, Graphtec etc. will be fine.

Have a search on the forum as there are plenty of discussions on the subject, Graphtec, Suma, Rolland are all good machines & will serve you well. As well as looking about the usual places for second user machines it is worth giving some of the suppliers a call as they sometimes take older machines in part exchange so although you may pay a little more for a second user machine it should come fully inspected & with some sort of come back if you have problems.
There was a post fairly recently about the machines grafityp sell so might also be worth giving Nigel a call. Never used one myself but think plenty of others have been happy with them.

Cheers Martin and Jon, I shall look at other threads.

After looking at Graphtec, I have found this the – Graphtec CE5000-120 1200mm – http://www.roberthornedirect.co.uk/Graphtec-CE5000-120-1200mm-Cutting-Plotter.html

Would there be anything wrong with this with the specs I need, anything silly im missing? Thanks a lot!
