  need to source polished brass sheet…

  Hi all,
  I’m looking to obtain some polished brass sheet, don’t need it engraved.

  the last few quotes I’ve had over the years have been more to me at trade than the customer could pick up retail at the local lockpicks!

  I think I have just paid about £85 for a sheet of engravers brass, 4ft x 2ft x 1,5mm, but my lousy memory won’t let me remember where I got it from.
  I will be in work tomorrow and find a link for you as I have it bookmarked. That is obviously if the price is right. 😉

  Hugh – you say you don’t need engraving but I’m assuming it’s still engravers brass you’re looking for?

  A few more that escapes me. Pricing will depend on if you’re looking for a full sheet or cut to size. I normally pay around the same as Mike for 1.5 thk.

  believe it or not, the customer said he doesn’t want it engraved, it’s a fairly smart farm based set of units – he doesn’t want to change the whole plate as and when businesses change, thus he wants me to put vinyl lettering on it!

  Problem is the brass will weather and go dark, they cant be cleaned with vinyl letters on, so when you go back to change a name there will be a tarnished image where the lettering was, so you will have to polish the plate which will make it a different colour to the others.

  Brass will tarnish, inside or outside and the only way to letter it and be able to polish it is engraving.

  We had some nice effects with reverse lettered clear acrylic and backed up with gold mirror vinyl.

  I would also add Engravamet to your list of possible suppliers.

  thanks for the advice Russell,

  went with brushed stainless steel in the end, customer had some kicking about.
