I really like this sort of thing, great stuff Henry. Must be so much more interesting than the norm.
Guessing its formed from styrofoam, but how do you manage to get that hard shine finish from it?
About a year ago i looked at doing some things in polystyrene but actually found sourcing it thicker that 4 inch sheets worked out pretty expensive.
i don’t know if i was trying to buy foam that was "very dense" or my source was just expensive but ended up not going this route as a result. my guess was where i was looking/sourcing it was wrong… anyway… 😕 :lol1: :lol1:thanks for taking the time to load your work Henry, much appreciated.

You want to try and find a manufacturer, we are lucky and have one on the same industrial estate.
The stuff you find at the builders merchants if its white is often like 80 density, we try and use at least 150, often 200 density, which is a harder board and looks better.
Have tried many hardcoats, thats the tricky part, i know on the third version, we used a thin polycarbonate sheet around the outside, overlapped around the back, maybe can find some pictures of that.
Can post some of the making of the hands if you want, so you have them on here, think I linked them before from my site, didn’t want to repost things people might have already seen.
Just add that most manufacturers make a block 1m x 1m x 4m and then cut it down slice it with hotwires to whatever thickness you want.
We hand cut these on a big band saw I used to have from 200mm thick sheets that were 2 x 1m
Hope you didn’t get home too late! 🙂
