No more radio !
I have been paying PRS about £50 per year for the last five years to have the radio on at work. I’ve just had another lot on the ohone PPL or something telling me we need another license from them as well at £140 to have the radio on at work. No wonder there is so much piracy about !
So its going off !. I told them I would be sending them an invoice for promoting songs as when the staff hear it they might go out and buy it so thats down to my promotion. He just laughed, so I might try it. -

Its robbing the artists of performing rights royaltyI would have thought playing the music might actually be promoting the sound which might prompt the listener to rush out and buy

If you play any music outside of a domestic environment then you need a license from the PRS and The PPL. That includes one person working in an office or shop where it might be heard by someone else.

PRS? PPL? Makes you wonder who are the real pirates!
Maybe we should charge a yearly fee for each of our signs, just in case more than one person saw them!

What if, a member of staff parked there car in the fitting bay/workshop and left there radio playing 🙄 😀 .could the company be held responsible for that??its for his personal use as the company no longer plays music.!! 😀

Yes they would as its being played on their premises so that other people can hear it.

I now work alone (Billy-no-mates) so am exempt but when I used to have staff and had the PRS on the phone I said that the staff had their own MP3 players and headphones. When they said they could hear music in the background I said it was my headphones that I had removed to answer their call!
They stopped calling me. 🙂
