  • Sign making Hopes & Ambitions for 2013 ?

Posted by David Hammond on 10 December 2012 at 23:04

Well its nearly Christmas and then soon it’ll be a New year, new start etc.

What are your plans and ambitions for 2013?

Mine are to increase the volume of vehicle graphics I do, and try and get more involved in signage.

Also really need to implement some form of backup system, whether build a cheap PC with a TB raid setup I don’t know…. But I need to start taking backups seriously.

    What plans do you have?

I haven’t made any plans as Phill says the world is going to end on 21st December.

Well the new UKSB will be up and running before then, so that will be a big step forward for me.

Android version of Signapp launched soon after.

Official Launch of UKSB training & accrediation.

the above and trying to make signs in between should keep me busy i think. 😕 :lol1: :lol1:

that’s the plan any way, fingers crossed! 😉

Try to get to the end of the year without killing some of the clients, Next year the quality of clients has to improve. Made a few improvements to production this year, looking forward to learning new skills and improving on the ones I think I have

In the process of moving units. Currently got a 600 sq ft unit with a full mezzanine floor, moving into a 1250 sq ft. unit and getting a full mezzanine installed so gonna have 2500 sq ft to play around with.

So I imagine the first few months of the year will be spent getting the new place how we want it and spending obscene amount of money!

Got a new 1.6m solvent printer arriving next week all going well so looking forward to getting that up and running……should open up some avenues that my 760mm machine couldn’t do.

Want to get a bit more organised….not easy when it’s just me……to easy to think " I will get that later"

    I’m with Harry and Graham.
    😀
I am trying to do more designing for other sign companies.
I can do this online and I really enjoy it.
    🙂
This will be my 28th year in the biz but I’m not buying any new equipment, actually I am pinpointing the things I am best at and enjoy most, and discarding the rest.
    😉
I’ve also been asked to host a big Walldog meet in my town in 2015…it’s really not that far off. We will be doing 8 murals in the city of Butler.
It will take a lot of planning and we will need lots of help
(hint hint) from anyone who can swing a brush or would like to give it a go.
    Love….Jill

    Haven’t had my coffee yet.

We need to hire a couple of more people. One in graphics production and one to run the router and prep. substrates.
Just got delivery of our new panel saw today.
Updating our website. Fit out our showroom.
Display at at least one trade show.
    Increase sales 30-40%.
    Update our computers and programs.
    New telephone system.
Continue to improve work flow through the shop.
    Partial wrap on our van.

Finish our web based system to run the whole business.
    Finish upper levels of mezzanines.
    Work less.

    Get more organised.
Re-vamp website and prune my advertising expenses too the most cost effective.
    Drink less coffee!!

    Win the Lottery 😕

    That’s to start with!!

Keep going girls – November was my 38th year in the business – and probably the worst!
So the 39th can only be better 😀

You know that Einstein quote about insanity and doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results….
Well this year I’m I’m going to change things, be kind to myself and see where it takes me. I’m going to ask for what I want and I’m not going to be afraid of the answer no or saying no….

And I’m not doing a 7 minute car lunch break 😀

Looking forward to new website in January (currently in construction), new van is imminent (keep the others cleaner)

I’d like to do a vehicle wrap course, after having been asked many times if I can do wraps, and sending business away to other companies- not good.

    Being generally tidier/more organised.

Have lots of fun with my 9 month old son 🙂

Lets just see what the year brings. I have become allergic to cherry pickers and I don’t like going up ladders anymore, I’m getting too old 🙁

Will probably update my website as seem to get a reasonable bit from it.

It’s been a good year here, due to a couple of nice orders so hope to keep the momentum going 😕

Still tough out there though….no deigning that.

Got to get myself on a wrapping course at some stage to gain confidence & now that my wife has joined me at work part time, she’ll be going on a vinyl fitting course at the same time.

Aim is to get slicker & quicker now some of the work load has been lifted from me.

    All the best,

    G.

Sub out more bits like big banners etc instead of doing them in-house and make more money for less work.

Going to try that one as well, after some of the prices I’ve had recently!

Got to have a few more days off, had 2 weeks off end of Sept this year and it just reminded me what it was like to relax without thinking of work.

Try to be firmer with customers. (but still polite 😕 )

    Tidier

    More profit

    …..
