Chapter 8 graphics.. what do you do?
Hi there, just wondering what you guys like to do regarding chapter 8 graphics? Do you, A: just buy a ready made kit and fit? B: make up your own kit in the workshop, C: make up on the van? or D: something else..

It all depends how many vehicles you’re doing. We only do a limited number of these so find it cheaper and far less hassle to buy in kits. if you are cutting it yourself remember to factor in the price of a few plotter blades 🙂

buy the kits then template the kit if you need to make up another at some point, also build up the kits on the bench as it makes it easier to apply on the van

The Chapter 8 guidelines recommend the prismatic grade which they supply with heat sealed edges. On new vehicles only striping tape with the specifications printed in the face are legal.
They supplied this custom shape. The yellow was in 2 halves with the red parts all individually added afterwards.

You’re right regarding the Chapter 8 as it requires class reference 2 or higher which in most cases it’s a prismatic reflective product, but I think you might be mixing chapter 8 and ECE 104 up.
Chapter 8 is the 150mm wide class ref 2 reflective chevrons placed on an angle of 45 of 60 degrees. If its for an escot vehicle these dimensions are different.
ECE104 is for all 7.5 tonne plus vehicle registered after July 2011 and yes the reflective tape used for that MUST be stamped.
Some are rules some are guildlines some are best practice…….all confusing 🙄

A kit for the full rear of a single vehicle can take the best part of a day to get right and that’s with allot of experience in making them. yes we can do them quicker but speed is not important, its getting them accurate. vehcile outline libraries should NOT be used for this type of thing either.
unless you do allot of reflective kit or you have a fleet to do, ide say buy them in as and when needed. I have found Wm Smiths to be the most competitive any time i have shopped for them in the past.
DO NOT cut these by hand on a vehicle to form the chevrons. its a disaster waiting to happen.

Where can I get a kit from for a fiesta?

try wm smiths mate… they have a very large library of vehicle kits.
if you have lots of kits required they maybe even able to create the template for you, but best speaking with them on that one.
