    Hi Everyone

We have an epsom 7890, just over 12 months old.

Having paid just under £1000 for a set of inks last time, we thought we`d look into after market inks…. Some might froun, but we run the mimaki on jet best for nearly 2.5 years and never had a problem ( touch wood).

Looked on the web and asked a few questions about the epsom, chose a company ( can`t rememebr their name) and ordered a full set of carts and inks.

Yesterday the light black on the epson ran out, it was the original cart. Poped the aftermarket ink cart in and it wouldn`t click in!!

After talking to the tec guy who sells the ink, we tried a few things. Tried all the other ink carts in various slots and the light black, all worked ok. But the light black would not except the aftermarket cart. We were sent another cart after they checked it clicked into place on their machine, this didn`t work either.

In the end we just ordered another original cart to get us printing again.

The ink guy said he had never heard of this happening beofre.

I just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on whats wrong?

I don’t use a epsom 7890 printer, but had a similar problem on our HP Z6200, it was rejecting a ink cart, after two new replacement carts we found out that cartridge was from a HP Z6100…. been labelled wrong.

No idea if this could be the same for your epson?

on my old epson 9500 had the same problem with after market ink found the small tags on the bottom to be slightly different to stop you fitting it.
supplier had not a clue, think epson did this to stop the wrong type not colour being fitted. back then there was dye and pigmented.
as the ink was the correct type ??? i put the new bag in tha old cart.

Had another sent out, the tec guy tried it in their epsom first, but didn`t work. Hes send me an old design tosee if that fits.

He suggested that the tab that holds the cart in might a slight adjustment, but don`t fancy going down that road.
