This amusing reminder to close the door was commissioned by a local public library. The lock and key are constructed of 30lb HDU carved with a Gerber D-200 Router using Enroute 4 software. The body of the lock is painted with Modern Masters Iridescent Gold, the recessed sections with Antique Bronze. The key is painted with Modern Masters Silver and Pewter. The shackle is painted with Rustoleum Chrome. The sign is mounted to the wall with a custom welded steel mount.

I wish I could say that this is the kind of work I do everyday, but in between parking signs, I try to get as creative as possible.

Lovely work, I would love to get creative but never get the call for great stuff like that.
How big is it as you can’t get a scale from that picture?

I love the idea and the finished lock but I feel that the bracket could have been less obvious.
Perhaps a metal loop like a hasp fitted to the wall plate with the loop of the lock welded in to it with the lock sitting sideways.

Thanks again for all the compliments. The size of the sign is approx 35cm x 14cm. Unfortunately customers never ask for anything creative they always want quick and cheep. This particular job is basically a charity job so the customer did not have a lot of say. I figured since I am losing money, I might as well loose a lot of money and have a little fun in the process. Its never easy to convince a customer to do something different, especially if it cost extra.
