kömaprint pvc board help please?
Hi All, I bought quite a few sheets of Kömaprint pvc foam board at different thicknesses earlier in the year, Has anyone used this before? We are having lots of signs bought back that are peeling away from the board? Has anyone used this and can shed any light on this? We thought it might be too much tension on the laminator and have reduced that, we have also used the same vinyl and laminate on palight and it appears to be fine? We have had someone this morning bring in a sign with cut vinyl and it appears to be coming away? All vinyls were applied dry? we think its the board, any thoughts appreciated!

Sounds suspiciously like a release agent left on the face of the board, but I realise you’d have cleaned them thoroughly. Other than that I’d have thought the same as yourself and suspected the stress in the lamination. I’d still suspect the board surface 😕

Neil we cleaned it with alcohol first (after removing protective sheeting)!
Rob we bought it here in spain, I normally use palight, but this comes in 3 x 2m sheets in all thicknesses and we can only get palight in 1.5cm x 3cm.
dont know who supplies it in the uk -here is websiteI have sent them an email to make sure it is suitable!

Dan, I don’t doubt you cleaned it – almost an insult to suggest otherwise! 😀 We’ve always done that too as a mater of course, but I’ve still come across the odd time where it wasn’t enough. I’ve seen us giving some substrates a good scrub with kitchen cream cleaner as well. As you would expect it’s always the more obscure products and in our case not supplied specifically for or by the sign industry.

quite impressed! just been rung by headquarters in Germany and they requested samples of the boards and said if there are any problems they will replace all quibble free! That was quick! They have confirmed although it is mainly for direct to print it can handle vinyl and lamination, and the backing sheet has no glue!
