Hansen: Audi Q7 wrapped in Pearl White.
Hey guys, just putting up my car that i tried with the Hexis Pearl finish. I loved the film but it wasn’t as drastic as i hoped. It looks far more flippy in the sample as apposed to a large panel 🙁 should of gone with the other option they had. The material is great. At the moment, I’m stuck with material as iv always used avery, then moved to 3m wrapping film and had been using 3m 85 series for solid colours. But lately my preference is Hexis, but Arlon are sending me samples that customers are taking a liking too. Has anyone used Arlon wrapping film for colour changes?

Nice one Ben, very smart mate.
I havent seen the pearlescent by Hexis, but have seen and tried the Avery Supreme and that was very nice and very easy to work with.
I have seen some of the new Arlon colour change films and they have some very smart finishes in their range. But havent had the chance yet to do any real work other than trying some wing mirrors and the like. which did go very well.
3M also have some very nice finishes in their new 1080 film, but havent used any since it switched from 85 series.

Thanks Rob, I’m hoping to order a roll of the lipstick pink for a full colour wrap this week. it seems reasonably priced, but il let you know how it goes first! iv been lucky enough to have a few colour changes using the 3m 1080 range, its fab! definitely my favourite the only bummer is, the limited colours. Iv, used the matt black, grey, and both carbons. All have been amazing to work with and the finish is awesome. But Hexis is almost there and half the price, so around here customers end up going with cost over quality! il try and upload some more pics asap 🙂

Ben nice work, did the same vehicle some time back. We found removing the door handles did make life easier and no join.
Very expensive for the pearl white but looked great when done, top work.

I remember seeing that! looks awesome! how long did it take you to get the handles off? i would of loved to taken them off, if it was a customers car i may have asked. but as its mine, i just did it quickly over the weekend. took about 3 hours to do half the car. I’m going to add more with some text in a week or so and then sell it, so it was just a quick look at me job before it goes 🙂

Ben door cards were the easy bit to remove, finding out how the first clip that holds the handles in, well about an hour for the first one , then about 15mins a side and same to refit. I did the sides in one day and the next day the roof , bonnet and rear, next day odds and ends, would I want to do these for a living NO its too much like hard work for the return, nice to do though.

Yeah, i know what you mean. I much prefer working with bits taken off the vehicle, but unless the customers willing, i don’t like doing it, incase i break something. Id love to be able to say i do these all day every day. But like you say, the return for the work isn’t great. Id rather be sticking up smaller vans with the better margin 🙂 and time!!! but its good for the ego and portfolio though 🙂 Nice to do, if the money is right and the car is clean before you start!!!

So true 3 easy vans more profit. One wrap everyone wants you to do theirs, tell them the price for materials and fitting and off they go!!!! 😀 😀
