Fixing word shaped sign to fascia

Hi All

I need to fix a word shaped sign to a shop front fascia, with out face fixings, the sign is approx 8ft by 2ft.
Would stand off locators do this?
I wa thinking of fixing stand off to the back of the sign, and making a template of where they would fit on a bit of 1/4 ply and using it as a template to fix the other parts to the shop front.

Any advice or possvle other methods would be welcome
