  • Folding a banner edge

Posted by Daniel Evans on 15 June 2012 at 21:46

    Hey guys

I’ve just started making my own banners and i’m trying to find the best way of getting a straight edge once it’s folded, i’m sure it’s very simple and i’m gonna look a right idiot asking but needs must.

I’m using hemming tape then folding it by hand by my lines are not 100% straight, any ideas?

We just have a piece of plastic 50mm wide, it’s held against the edge of the banner and a pencil line drawn on all round the banner.

Remove the backing from the tape and fold the outside edge of the banner to the line – works a treat!

easy – print the lines as part of the design, cut to the outer…strip off all the tape backing and fold over as you go – then firm into place with a roller or hard squeegee.

    Made hundreds of ’em!

    The signmaking equivalent of saying

‘Which Ferrari will I take to the shops today, darling’! 😀

a wallpaper roller or a 4inch rubber roller from an art shop is just the job
and as has been said print your banner border i cut an extra 40mm for the hem from this turn over and fold apply your tape strip and refold best to clean the banner edge as i found some banner material hard to stick to
    cheers
