Hello from Newton Abbot
Posted by Nigel Barber on 2 June 2012 at 13:15Hi Everyone,
I made the choice to start up my own sign writing business at the beginning of the year, but am just about ready to full steam ahead. It was about then I found this forum. This forum has been great at helping me with questions I had and in doing my research so far, I have learned a lot about what I about to embark upon. So it’s about time I stopped lurking and said hello to everyone.
I was 16 when I was hit with a life changing accident in where I broke my neck resulting in me being wheelchair bound. I’ve not given up on life and enjoy alot of things, but had no purpose, after a few chats with friends and research, here I am, starting out on the road to doing vinyl wall art and decals, who knows what the future will bring…
Many thanks for allowing me to join the community and for a help in the future.
Nigel

Hi Nigel, welcome to the forum.
First thing you need to learn is not to keep rubbing your face when your painting :lol1: :lol1:

Thanks everyone,
@Martin, the pen slipped a few times whilst out drinking in fancy dress (hot) -
More than once I’ve stirred the paint with the end of the brush and promptly stuck the brush behind my ear – without cleaning it first !!!! 😳 🙄 🙄 😕 😀

Yea, I had plenty hair back then – probably a quick wipe would sort it for me nowadays! lol 😀
The brush was never out of (behind) my ear back then as I didn’t wear specs. Nowadays it’s a real pain finding somewhere momentarily to park the brush as the leg of the specs gets in the way. What do you other ‘brushies’ who have more recently evolved into spectaclel wearers do?

Hi Nigel, used to live in Newton a few years ago moved to paignton. In fact was in the cider bar a few months ago. Still go there regularly as family still live there
-
Hi Martin, i do frequent the cider bar, nothing like a pint of diesel…
-
Hi Nigel, it’s a small world I also used to live in Newton, still have a unit there when I’m not driving around the country.
Cider bar is the all good until you come out side after drinking in there.

Hi all,
Just thought i’d give a little update, things are going well, new orders coming in slowly but it’s a start.
I’d like to thank the members of the board for the advice i’ve received on my posts and in others posts, has really helped me understand the ways to use the vinyl -
Glad to hear your making progress nigel, it will take time for sure, keep in at it mate.
thanks also for taking the time coming back and letting us all know… much appreciated

Probably best if orders come in slowly to start with Nigel, that way it gives you a bit of time to learn as you go along & make sure things are done correctly. Last thing you want is to give yourself a bad name by rushing stuff & making mistakes or letting people down.
Very difficult to build a good reputation but oh so easy to acquire a bad one.
