    Hi all,
Looking at buying a new plotter. Not sure what to buy, was looking at the Roland GX24 and the Graphtec Expert 24, CE5000 & FC8000. I’m not sure what to go for… Can some share their thoughts on these machines or tell me of even better ones on the market??
I liked the Roland as it has the optical eye on it as well.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Graphtec is my first choice for cutters.
    Roland is my Second choice.
    Summa Third

I have never had a summa so my comment is based purely on what i have read over the years.

Grafityp do machines like the bob-cat and others. very competitive priced. i looked at one of them at sign and digital one year. 65 inches wide.
like summa cutters, ive never heard of any complaints.

Ive been running both Graphtec and Roland cutters for years now, cant fault either.

    Cheers Rob

Chris – I’m not looking to match up to a printer. It was purely just in case I decided to do t-shirts etc in the near future which i have been thinking about that then it would be able to pick up on this.

out of the ones listed fc8000 would be my choice the most versatile of the lot and should last a long long time if looked after.
buy the biggest you can afford.
i have 2 graphtecs one is around 12 years old still goes very well

I’m running an FC-8000. Awesome piece of kit, it’s only down fall is the Cutting Master. It has its quirks. But depending on what software you’re running it might not be a problem.

The hardware though is reliable, and does everything I’ve asked of it.

We have 2 Graphtecs. Roland, my first plotter 16 years ago still works but is retired so either of these.

We have a 1200mm wide Summa which is awesome when it’s set to TurboCut!!

I’m still using a 18yr old 620 summa cutter with no immediate plans to change. One day i may buy a larger one, touch wood it has been almost completely free of any problems except a little rubber buffer which was easy to fix.

We have had a few machines but nothing beats a Graphtec , they are a solid/well built piece of kit
